A community celebration of making. Makers from a range of disciplines will be joining us at the St. Oswald's Centre — browse and buy original crafts, watch live demonstrations, and have a go yourself in one of our hands-on workshops. A wonderful day out for all ages.

Try something new

Browsing the stalls is free — just drop in any time. Want to try a craft yourself? Each maker is running a hands-on workshop during the day. Book in advance, spots are limited, and all the money goes straight to the maker.

Try your hand at carving wood with just 1 knife! 1h Demo/Lesson. Materials and tools will be provided.

In this introduction to willow weaving you'll learn the basic techniques of working with natural willow as you create your very own bird feeder to hang in your garden. No experience needed, everything you need is provided on the day.

Discover the gentle art of watercolour with Penny in this beginner-friendly session. You'll learn the basics of working with water and pigment. Everything is provided, and no previous painting experience is needed.

Learn about tooling, burnishing and stitching leather to make a personalised bookmark. With a material that is truly of this land. We will craft with gratitude for the animal whose skin we work with.

Stone painting 101

Pick up a stone and turn it into something beautiful. In this relaxed, hands-on session Liz will guide you through the basics of painting on stone. No experience needed, just a willingness to have a go.

Make a flower crown to adorn yourself with colour, whimsy and joy. No experience needed, everything you need is provided on the day.

Liz is an artist and maker with over 20 years of experience delivering art and craft workshops across a wide range of client groups. She currently works at a charity running an art and printmaking workshop for adults with learning disabilities.

Rick, also known as Scarecrow Woodcrafts, is a woodcarver, craft tutor, and wellbeing facilitator based in Edinburgh. He specialises in Scandinavian flat plane figure carving, portrait sculpture, and miniature craft.

Penny is a traditional watercolour artist based in Midlothian, with over nine years of experience working with the medium. Her work focuses on birds, woodland creatures, and the natural world.
